Charity in Falano Port
Wie jedes Jahr nutzen wir den Start der Weihnachtszeit dafür ein besonderes Augenmerk auf unsere zahlreichen Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen im Port zu richten. In diesem Jahr betrachten wir die außergewöhnliche Institution Children of Falano.
“Nicht jedes geborene Kind ist gleichzeitig auch ein gewonnenes Leben im Port. Denn viele von ihnen wachsen unter grauenvollen Bedingungen auf. Die Regierung selbst hat wenig Macht darüber, wenn es darum geht Kinderexistenzen ohne elterliches Einvernehmen zu verbessern. Daher ist es umso wichtiger, dass wir als Institution zumindest in den Krabbelstuben, Kindergärten und Schulen aktiv sind”, erklärt uns Leeha Ji’hn, Sprecherin der NGO Children of Falano.
Sie würden im speziellen “nicht nur die Fragen stellen, ob etwas nicht in Ordnung ist, sondern - oft wissen sie ja auch überhaupt nicht, dass das was mit ihnen passiert oder eben auch nicht passiert nicht in Ordnung ist - hinschauen, ob ihnen etwas fehlt.”
Im letzten Jahr hat Children of Falano über 45.000 Kindern geholfen. Das Programm reicht von einer neuen Unterkunft, Pflegeeltern, Nachhilfe für die Schule und Unterstützung in sozialen Kompetenzen sowie das Versorgen mit Nahrung und erholsamer Freizeit. Denn es werde oft vergessen, wie wichtig Routinen und Abläufe sind, die einem Leben Halt geben, auch wenn wir sie oft als Last empfinden.

At the Start of the Christmas Season: Focusing on “Children of Falano”
As is tradition, every year at the start of the Christmas season, we shine a special light on the numerous charitable organizations in the Port. This year, we are looking at the exceptional institution, Children of Falano.
“Not every child born in the Port is simultaneously a life won. Because many of them grow up under horrific conditions. The government itself has little power to improve the existence of children without parental consent. Therefore, it is all the more important that we, as an institution, are active, at least in nurseries, kindergartens, and schools,” explained Leeha Ji’hn, spokesperson for the NGO Children of Falano.
She elaborated that they specifically “not only ask if something is wrong, but—since often the children don’t even know that what is happening to them or not happening to them is wrong—they look to see if something is missing.”
Last year, Children of Falano helped over 45,000 children. Their program ranges from providing new accommodation, foster parents, tutoring for school, support in social skills, and providing food and restorative leisure time. This is because people often forget how important routines and procedures are in giving life stability, even if we often perceive them as a burden.
